Texas A&M Law Master of Legal Studies | General Studies

Our general studies MLS program is intended for non-lawyers who work in fields in which they have to navigate complex legal rules. It’s ideal for you if you don’t want to pursue one of our existing specialty tracks, and you prefer the flexibility to shape your own curriculum to the needs of your career or industry. Our foundational courses will give you a broad understanding of the legal system and enhance your problem- solving, dispute- resolution, negotiation, and communication skills. The wide variety of electives will allow you to tailor your legal education to your specific goals.

Time to Complete: Est. 1-2 years (30 Credit hours)

Modality: Online or Hybrid

Three Starts Per Year: Fall, Spring, Summer

Master of Legal Studies | General Program Coursework

The Master of Legal Studies (General Studies) is a 30-credit-hour program. Candidates typically enroll in two courses per semester, which allows them to reach eligibility to graduate within two years. Candidates also have the flexibility as to how many courses to enroll in each semester, subject to university program rules.
