Online Legal Education Supported by Texas A&M Core Values

With options across two different degrees, as well as graduate certificates, there’s an online program for everyone: the Master of Laws (LLM) for those who already have a JD; the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) and certificates for non-lawyer professionals.

Our state-of-the-art pedagogical techniques are designed to take advantage of the latest in online learning technology, demonstrating our commitment to giving working professionals the flexibility to learn on their own schedule. The LLM and MLS degrees culminate in the opportunity to visit the law school to receive the coveted Aggie Ring, signifying your membership in one of the largest alumni networks in the world. No matter which program you choose, you’re guaranteed unwavering support from Texas A&M Law faculty, staff, and community.

Online MLS Degree

A specialized legal education can be advantageous even if you don’t plan to practice law. Geared toward non-lawyer professionals with a bachelor’s degree who work in highly regulated or complex industries, the MLS provides specialized legal training for those who would benefit from knowledge of the law.

Online LLM Degree

Our online LLM program serves students who have already earned a domestic JD or its international equivalent and who want to develop a specialization in a particular area of law.

Online Graduate Legal Certificates

Certificates are designed for professionals with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent who are interested in understanding the legal aspects of their industry without the monetary and time commitment of a full master’s degree. In most cases, credits are stackable toward an MLS degree.

Top-Notch Academics

The innovation and rigor that earned Texas A&M Law a top 30 law school designation extends to our online degree programs — you won’t sacrifice quality for flexibility. Thirteen MLS tracks, four LLM tracks, and seven certificate options ensure that you’ll have access to a wide variety of courses focused on enhancing your prior knowledge and experience. Attentive instruction, practical skills, and a range of professional development and networking opportunities will prepare you for success, no matter your professional aspirations.

Expert Faculty

The same dynamic faculty that teach in the JD program at Texas A&M School of Law bring their knowledge of the law to online students. Professors will work with you to ensure you achieve your academic and professional goals. Our world-renowned faculty is well-acquainted with how to teach the law for those who don’t plan to practice but who still want a legal edge in their careers, and our small class sizes ensure personal attention from professors.

Online Learning Resources

Our faculty and staff are readily available to all of our distance education students. The success of our online learners is critical to the success of Texas A&M Law, and the entire community is invested in our online LLM, MLS, and certificate students.

Distance Education Best Practices

Simply setting up a camera in the back of the classroom to record a professor’s lecture for asynchronous learning is ineffective and outdated. We use state-of-the-art pedagogical techniques to ensure that distance education students feel like they’re sitting in the classroom interacting with professors and peers.

Technology

For professionals, it’s important that you’re able to manage your schedule effectively. You’ll be introduced to a variety of visual presentations during class time, including discussion boards, group breakout sessions, polls, short answer responses, and calling on students to answer questions via discussion boards, chat rooms, or office hours. Students can expect professors to initiate interaction at least twice per week.
