Scholarly Expertise and Academic Contributions

His scholarship includes:

  • Administrative Law
  • Comparative Law

Additionally, he is an expert on Russian and post-Soviet law and author of multiple articles, book chapters, presentations, and an authoritative book on post-Soviet Russia’s constitutional transformation titled Russia’s Constitutional Revolution: Legal Consciousness and the Transition to Democracy, 1985-1996.

Academic Journey and Accomplishments

Before joining the Aggie family, Dean Ahdieh held several visiting professorships at Princeton University, Columbia University School of Law, and Georgetown University Law Center, among others.

From 2000-2018 he served in multiple capacities at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta including as a professor, vice dean, associate dean of faculty, and director of the Center on Federalism and Intersystemic Governance.

A Remarkable Journey of Education, Experience, and Engagement

His higher education journey began at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied abroad at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and graduated summa cum laude with an A.B.

Ahdieh then went on to earn his J.D. from renowned Yale Law School.

Prior to joining the world of academia, he held the prestigious law clerk position for Judge James R. Browning of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit before making waves as a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Diverse Engagement, Transformative Leadership in Legal Education

In his spare time, Dean Ahdieh’s professional engagement runs the gamut as:

Elevating Texas A&M School of Law: Dean Ahdieh’s Vision

Along with the development of the Texas A&M-Fort Worth campus, Dean Ahdieh’s biggest accomplishment during his tenure has been the unprecedented trajectory of Texas A&M University School of Law’s rank to a top 30 spot in U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of Best Graduate Schools.

Building on the Aggieland legacy is a top priority for the dean, and he is confident in what the students, faculty, and staff bring to the table to prove A&M belongs exactly where it is.

It is hard for me to imagine a better summary of the essential characteristics of success in law and leadership than the Aggie Core Values. In direct proportion to our individual and collective embrace of those values will come our success at the law school, as a law school, and in the world beyond.
