At Texas A&M Law, we’re committed to enriching our students’ legal education through pro bono work and community service, promoting improved access to legal services for those who are underserved or under-resourced. Our Aggie core values of loyalty, respect, integrity, selfless service, excellence, and leadership guide our Equal Justice Program, which facilitates and enhances the ABA pro bono requirement for law students by:

  • Pairing you with organizations where you will represent clients in real-world settings through client interviews, counseling, and advocacy
  • Assisting you in making contacts with potential mentors and employers who can help you advance your career
  • Demonstrating the importance of giving back to the community

How does the Equal Justice Program work?

How does the Equal Justice Program work?

As a student at Texas A&M Law, you’ll need to complete at least 30 hours of pro bono work through a preapproved placement. While the program is geared toward 2Ls and 3Ls, your pro bono service can start at any time and must be completed prior to graduation. Students are responsible for selecting a placement, contacting the organization, arranging to complete the work, and filling out proper forms.

When thinking about an organization, you can choose from a list of pre-approved placements or locate one that aligns with your interests. Texas A&M partners with organizations such as Dallas Legal Hospice, Catholic Charities, city attorney offices, public defender offices, Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), just to name a few. Wherever your passion for equal justice lies, Texas A&M Law has fully vetted pro bono partnerships for every student.
